Currently in the midst of reading Nick Vujicic‘s 2012 book, “Unstoppable”. I’ve been wanting to read it for sometime but only recently managed to get hold of the book. Nick’s videos have been very useful for the motivational talks I used to have with students (via the Sai Organization of Malaysia).
In fact, we’ve been using his videos way before he became “famous” with the launch of his books and world tour in 2011. I was expecting the usual motivational material in this book but what took me by surprise was the fact that he was actually a Christian evangelist and pastor.
In fact, throughout the book, you get quotes from the bible and he talks about how Jesus inspires him. It’s overall an inspirational book thus far but I am not sure if it will be accepted by non-Christians or those with a closed mind.
“If you feel yourself sliding into despair, drained of energy, and depleted of faith, ask yourself, ‘What matters most to me? What gives me joy? What drives me and gives my life meaning? How can I get that back”
I also like the fact that he speaks about his failures and how he at one point failed to live up to his own principles which he so often speaks about at his talks. This sort of honesty is much needed in a society where everything is depicted as picture perfect.
He stresses throughout the book that believing in something or just having an idea is not good enough. You have to translate what you believe in to action hence the “Faith in Action” tagline.
If you are looking for a light and inspirational read, “Unstoppable” is for you.
